Our Crew

GENERAL INCLUSIONS:

Fully crewed (skipper, chef and deck hand) private charter with flexible itinerary, island hopping, swimming, snorkeling, all food (morning & afternoon tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner), soft drinks, drinking water, mask and snorkel sets (limited fin sizes are provided), hand-line fishing equipment and bed linen plus bath towels.

CAPTAIN OR SKIPPER:

We employ the services of local highly experienced Fijian Captains. Like many charter yacht crew in Fiji, they are free lance and work on other yachts also. For many years we have used the same two Captains (depending who is available) named George and Sam.

Sam and George have a wealth of knowledge and skills to share. They are patient, fluent in English, and committed to great service. They are happy to include guests who wish to assist with sailing the boat and will also assist with cooking, can tell stories, entertain and answer questions about Fiji.  The guys enjoy surfing and fishing and know the Mamanucas like the back of their hand, including the best waves, snorkeling spots and secluded anchorages. On a charter guests get to know the crew quite well as everyone is living together.

DECKHAND:

Our deckhand Atunaisa (known to everyone as Atu) has been working on our charters for 7 or 8 years. Atu has been described as an enthusiastic though unofficial ambassador for Fiji. He loves hand line fishing too and seems to have quite the knack for it. Atu is patient and very good with young children. He is a handy boatman and a great asset to the captains. Our guests love him and often comment how hard he works to try to please everyone. ,

CHEF:

We usually use the same excellent local chef onboard to prepare all meals and snacks, mix drinks and manage the galley/kitchen. Fresh local ingredients (vegetables, fruits and salads) and quality meat, pasta, poultry and pork are included. We also like to include traditionally Fijian fare as well simple but tasty international dishes. Fiji is isolated and there is minimal access to imported or luxury items. Fresh fish is often caught along the way and will be prepared by the chef on the spot. Vegetarians can be catered for. We can try to meet special dietary requirements and cater for food allergies however this must be discussed and agreed with us first as it will depend on individual circumstances and availability of alternative foods as Fiji has limited options available and some imported goods are extremely expensive. On longer charters we can arrange to replenish supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables part way through the trip by sending boxes of goods out on the various inter island ferry services.
